Travel Consultants Group was formed in 2001 for the exclusive purpose of evaluating and establishing Corporate Travel Departments for large businesses and organizations. Its founder, Chris Carr had been in the business travel industry for over fifteen years, most recently as Vice President-Corporate Sales for a major travel management company. Chris holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and CCTE (Certified Corporate Travel Executive) accreditation through Cornell University and the National Business Travel Association (NBTA). He was past President of the Florida Business Travel Association and was on the NBTA's Chapter President Council.

Travel Consultants Group provides comprehensive analyses of the potential cost performance of a CTD compared to the existing travel operation or any other proposed travel management option including online agencies. This analysis is typically a 3-year ROI, which details both startup and recurring expenses. Should an organization decide to proceed with a CTD, Travel Consultants Group will oversee any and all tasks associated with establishing a successful CTD operation including ARC-accreditation, staffing, and procurement of necessary automation and services. Travel Consultants Group also develops client specific performance reporting for both the CTD operation and the overall travel program.

Once established, CTDs operate autonomously and require little intervention or support. Travel Consultants Group is still available for any additional changes or improvements such as introduction of a new online booking system or assistance with supplier relations. In addition to standard CTDs, Travel Consultants Group has pioneered several unprecedented CTD configurations including a Sovereign Nation CTD (owned by a Native American tribe), a hybrid CTD (integrated CTD/agency onsite operation) and an ARC-accredited New Independent Entity (travel agency accreditation allowing for the travel management of external clients).
